BOOM MULTISPORT HOLIDAY CAMPS
Boom is a local sports coaching company who specialise in providing multisport camps during the school holidays.
The camps are run by qualified and experienced coaches, of which most work at Greensted Primary School or within the multi-academy trust. Their vast experience in sports coaching enables them to provide children with a safe, fun environment for playing sport.
We are very fortunate to have a great relationship with Greensted Primary School where we hire their outstanding facilities (two halls, astro pitch, multi-use games area, playground and field) to provide children with an excellent range of indoor and outdoor activities.
A typical day at the camp is split into several hour-long sessions with breaks & lunch in between. The coaches endeavour to keep children engaged with a range of fun activities throughout the week including football, basketball, tennis, dodgeball, badminton and many more. Our ethos is to make the activities as enjoyable as we can by limiting the pressure of winning and making it more about having fun.
However, we know that children enjoy some competition and want opportunities to win. We therefore have a weekly basketball tournament and football tournament where the winning teams will win a medal to keep as well as a photo with the winners trophy.
In addition, the 'wheel of Boom' (a multisport penalty shootout) happens on the final day of the week; this is where the children spin a wheel and shoot with the piece of equipment that it lands on. The wheel has a variety of equipment on it including a football, rugby ball, netball, table tennis ball and many others... including socks!
But the winning doesn't stop there! We also select children from each group (older and younger groups) to win a 'player of the week' trophy and a 'sportsperson of the week' trophy. These are chosen by the coaches based on children who show positive behaviours and attitudes throughout the week.
All of our awards are given out on the last day at our weekly presentation where parents, siblings, grandparents, etc can attend. All children will receive a sweet and certificate (hopefully a medal or trophy too) as we want every child to receive something for their efforts throughout the week.
Oh! And we also host daily dress-up activities (such as 'odd socks day') and other themes including a fancy dress day dependent on our weekly theme i.e Halloween dress-up.
On arrival at the school, head past the main office towards the Lower School Hall entrance. Enter via the doors at the hall; please try to arrive on time as gates are locked soon after to ensure the safety of children. Children are collected from the Lower School Hall at the end of the day.
Children will require the following items:
- Sports clothing (shorts/bottoms, top and trainers)
- Additional warm clothing (jumper, coat, hat and gloves)
- Sun protection (sun cream, sun hat, etc)
- Packed lunch and snacks
- Large water bottle (can be refilled) and additional soft drinks
