ADHD is the most common behavioural disorder in the UK. It is estimated to affect approximately 5% of school children and is   3-4 times more likely in males. Symptoms begin to show in early childhood and often become more  noticeable when the child starts school.

Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental  disability which begins in early childhood and lasts throughout life. It affects three important areas of functioning:  Communication/ Social interaction and Theory of mind.

The feeling of anxiety is something we all experience and is necessary for survival. It results from the release of adrenalin into the bloodstream in response to things we find threatening, and makes us alert so that we can deal with day to day challenges.

Behaviour refers to how a child acts or conducts themselves, especially towards others. It is their  actions, reactions and functioning in response to everyday environments and situations. Challenging behaviour is a term used to describe behaviour that interferes with a child’s daily life.

Hypermobility is a description of joint movement. Hyper means ‘more’ and  mobility means ‘movement’.  Ligaments    offer stability to joints and in hypermobility, ligaments are lax and joints have more flexibility. It is not an illness or a   disease, just the way someone is put together.

Learning difficulties are a group of disorders involving significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning or mathematical abilities.  A child with a  learning difficulty can find it more  difficult to learn, understand and do things compared to other children of the same age.
