Reading
Reading is an exercise in empathy; of walking in someone else’s shoes for a little while.
Our Wonderful Millionaire Readers!
At Greensted Primary School, we know that being able to read fluently is a vital life skill but we also see it as an opportunity to transport yourself on magical journeys; to incredible places; with extraordinary characters; and where your imagination can run wild.
All of our staff adore reading and actively encourage that enthusiasm in our children to ensure they also develop a “love of reading” for the rest of their lives.
Book Reviews
As a reader, it is also important to be able to evaluate what you have read. and this is also something which we incorporate into our English lessons.
What is a Book Review?
The main purpose of a book review is to help other readers to decide if they should read the book themselves. It presents all the main ideas in the book.
Book reviews usually include a brief summary of the book, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the book, and usually a rating or recommendation.
There a a variety of book review templates available to use. The one below shows the main key features of a Book Review.
